Kristen Gowdy is a senior journalism major and sport studies minor at Ithaca College, where she served as sports editor of The Ithacan, which has consistently gained national attention as one of the top college newspapers in the country. In addition to writing for The Ithacan, she is also currently working with Team USA Bobsled & Skeleton’s media relations department. Following her junior year, she served as an intern in the Colorado Springs Gazette’s sports department, where she covered a variety of sports, including Triple-A baseball and the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. She was also selected out of more than 500 applicants for the Communications internship at the National Baseball Hall of Fame following her sophomore year. During the internship, Kristen worked closely with the the Hall’s Communications staff to plan and execute Induction Weekend 2014, which saw six of baseball’s all-time greats immortalized into the Hall of Fame. Additionally, she wrote daily for the Hall’s website and magazine. Kristen has also interned for Presidio Sports, where she covered an independent professional baseball team during the summer after her freshman year. She has experience covering baseball, basketball, football, tennis and soccer among a multitude of other sports. After she graduates, she hopes to pursue her passion for sports and storytelling.
Originally from Santa Barbara, California, Kristen also played two years of varsity basketball at Ithaca College and enjoys running, the beach and reading.
